Repayments by Simon Danczuk MP

Request

Did Simon Danczuk or Karen Danczuk repay any money she claimed as a result of carrying out 621 hours overtime work in Simon’s constituency office between May 2010 and May 2015?

What guidance did the Compliance Officer give to Simon Danczuk over future expense claims relating to overtime payments after concluding their assessment?

Response

As you may be aware, the Compliance Officer for IPSA is an independent office-holder, responsible for investigating complaints that an MP has been paid an amount by IPSA under the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses (‘the Scheme’), to which they were not entitled.

For the purposes of the FOIA, IPSA and the Compliance Officer for IPSA are two separate public authorities. Information held by IPSA is not necessarily held by the Compliance Officer (and vice versa).

As such, we do not hold any record of Mr Danczuk having repaid any money to IPSA with relation to overtime payments made to members of his staff.

No guidance has been provided to Mr Danczuk by the Compliance Officer for IPSA regarding future claims for staff overtime.
